LaMonica McIver is a Representative from New Jersey, born in Newark in 1986. She graduated from Central High School in 2004 and earned degrees from Bloomfield College and Seton Hall University. McIver worked in Newark Public Schools from 2006-2013, serving as a human resources manager and non-profit executive. She was a member of the Newark city council and its president before being elected to Congress in a special election to fill a vacancy.
