118th CONGRESS   1st Session                                 H. R. 5347  To give preferential consideration to grant applicants that are using      such funds for school resource officers, and for other purposes.                                                                                             IN THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES                            September 5, 2023   Mrs. Lesko introduced the following bill; which was referred to the                         Committee on the Judiciary                                                                                                          A BILL    To give preferential consideration to grant applicants that are using      such funds for school resource officers, and for other purposes.     Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the  United States of America in Congress assembled, SECTION 1. SHORT TITLE.     This Act may be cited as the ``Protecting Our Kids Act''. SEC. 2. PREFERENTIAL CONSIDERATION.     Section 1701(c) of the Omnibus Crime Control and Safe Streets Act  of 1968 (34 U.S.C. 10381(c)) is amended--             (1) in paragraph (2)(C), by striking ``or'' at the end;             (2) in paragraph (3)(B), by striking the period and          inserting ``; or''; and             (3) by adding at the end the following:             ``(4) for the purposes described in subsection (b)(12).''.
