Gregory W. Meeks is a U.S. Representative from New York, born in East Harlem in 1953. He graduated from Julia Richman High School and earned degrees from Adelphi University and Howard University Law School. Meeks worked as an assistant district attorney, special narcotics prosecutor, and served in various legal and judicial roles before being elected to the New York State Assembly and later to Congress in 1998. He currently chairs the Committee on Foreign Affairs.
