Marilyn Strickland is a U.S. Representative from Washington state, born in Seoul, South Korea. She graduated from Mount Tahoma High School in Tacoma and earned degrees from the University of Washington and Clark Atlanta University. Before Congress, Strickland served on the Tacoma City Council, was Mayor of Tacoma from 2010 to 2017, and led the Seattle Metropolitan Chamber of Commerce until her election to Congress in 2021.
