Wright Patman was a Texas Representative born in Cass County. He graduated from Hughes Springs High School and Cumberland University's law department. After practicing law and serving as an Army officer during World War I, he became a state representative and district attorney. Patman was elected to Congress in 1929 and served until his death in 1976, chairing several significant committees focused on small business, economic issues, and banking.
