Cindy Hyde-Smith is a U.S. Senator from Mississippi, born in Brookhaven in 1959. She graduated from Copiah-Lincoln Community College and the University of Southern Mississippi, and worked as a cattle farmer. Hyde-Smith served in the Mississippi state senate and as state agriculture commissioner before being appointed to the U.S. Senate in 2018, where she was subsequently elected and reelected.
