Dianne Feinstein was a long-serving U.S. Senator from California who began her political career on the San Francisco Board of Supervisors and as the city's mayor. She was elected to the Senate in a 1992 special election, subsequently winning reelection five times. During her tenure, she chaired the Senate Rules and Intelligence Committees, serving until her death in September 2023.
