Jack Reed is a U.S. Senator from Rhode Island, born in Providence in 1949. A West Point graduate and veteran who served in the Army from 1971-1991, he earned advanced degrees from Harvard and taught at the U.S. Military Academy. Reed served in the state senate before being elected to Congress and later the Senate, where he has been reelected multiple times and currently chairs the Committee on Armed Services.
