Jon Tester is a U.S. Senator from Montana, born in Havre in 1956. A graduate of the College of Great Falls, he worked as a farmer and teacher, serving on the Big Sandy school board from 1983 to 1992. He was a state senator from 1999 to 2006, holding various leadership roles. Elected to the U.S. Senate in 2006, he has been reelected in 2012 and 2018. Tester has chaired several congressional committees, including the Committee on Indian Affairs and the Committee on Veterans' Affairs.
