Kirsten E. Gillibrand is a U.S. Senator from New York, born in Albany in 1966. She graduated from Dartmouth College and earned a law degree from UCLA. After working as a lawyer and special counsel at HUD, she was elected to the U.S. House of Representatives in 2006 and appointed to the Senate in 2009, filling Hillary Clinton's seat. She was subsequently elected and reelected, and ran for president in 2020.
