Tammy Duckworth is a U.S. Senator from Illinois, born in Bangkok, Thailand. She graduated from the University of Hawaii and George Washington University, served as a helicopter pilot in the U.S. Army Reserve and Illinois Army National Guard, and was awarded the Purple Heart for her service in Operation Iraqi Freedom. Before her Senate tenure, she held roles in veterans' affairs and served in the U.S. House of Representatives.
