A BILL
To amend title 10, United States Code, to authorize the President to
grant a certain retired grade to the Director of Admissions of a
Service Academy.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the
United States of America in Congress assembled,
SECTION 1. SHORT TITLE.
This Act may be cited as the ``Military Service Academy Director of
Admissions Act of 2023''.
SEC. 2. RETIRED GRADE FOR THE DIRECTOR OF ADMISSIONS OF A SERVICE
ACADEMY.
(a) United States Military Academy.--Section 7342 of title 10,
United States Code, is amended--
(1) by inserting ``, or the Director of Admissions,''
before ``of the United States Military Academy''; and
(2) by striking ``as such a professor'' and inserting ``in
such position''.
(b) United States Naval Academy.--Section 8470a(a) of title 10,
United States Code, is amended--
(1) in paragraph (2), by inserting ``and subject to
paragraph (3),'' after ``subsection (b),''; and
(2) by adding at the end the following new paragraph:
``(3) Upon retirement, an officer of the Navy or Marine Corps
serving as a permanent professor, or the Director of Admissions, of the
United States Naval Academy in the grade of captain or colonel, and
whose service in such position has been long and distinguished, may, in
the discretion of the President, be retired in the grade of rear
admiral (lower half) or brigadier general.''.
(c) United States Air Force Academy.--Section 9342 of title 10,
United States Code, is amended--
(1) by inserting ``, or the Director of Admissions,''
before ``of the United States Air Force Academy''; and
(2) by striking ``as such a professor'' and inserting ``in
such position''.
